Essential Visa Tips for First-time Travellers

Hi there,

So in the past 15 years, I have applied myself for numerous visas all across the world. Both for tourism and for work. As a (previous) holder of one of the worst passport in the world, I have seen first hand how difficult it can be for us.

I have also helped many others with their applications and visa interviews in the past years.

Here are some of the most important things you need to know when applying for a visa. Note that these tips are primarity written for visit visas, but they are generally true for all types.

  1. Unless you can prove you are eligible, you will be rejected.

What does this mean?

This means that giving a visa is a privilege and not a right. The default response for any visa application is a NO. Unless you can prove that you are a suitable candidate. But what does being eligible means?

2. Are you a flight risk?

The biggest concern of any visa officer is that it can be a flight risk. Will you go abroad on the pretext of tourism or studies and then claim asylum, and then become a burden on the social welfare system? For this exact reason, you have to ensure that you are giving sufficient evidence with ties to your home country.

3. Documentation

There are two types of documentation you will have to prepare.

First: Your proof of intention: if you are going for visit, do you have a plan and a general idea. If you are going for studies, do you have admission letter and a history of academics. Your intention has to be clearly proven without a doubt through your documentation.

Second, Your ties to your home country this is the biggest reason why visa applications are rejected. What ties you to your homeland? Do you have a job? Do you have a family? Property? Can you prove that you have sufficient funds so that you are not running to another country in search of a better life? All of this has to be proven through documentary evidence.

4. There is Luck involved

I once read somewhere that a US Border Guard has more authority than a US president when it comes to admitting any person. The same can be said for Visa officers. Visa officers are thoroughly trained but their decisions don't need any reason. If they don't feel you have sufficient reason, then they will simply reject you. Its possible if you had gone to a different VO he/she might have been more lenient.

5. Most Importantly

NEVER EVER LIE ON YOUR APPLICATION/INTERVIEW

Not only will you never get a visa, you will also be subject to a permanent ban and in some cases even criminal prosecution (meaning you can go to jail)

Also, never let any agent or dodgy company apply on your behalf. Make sure that even if you are hiring a company they are reputable and they have certified lawyers and experts. I highly recommend that you apply for your visa application yourself, even f you need more information or help, the final submission should be from you.

An important piece of news you should know: This was sent to a Content Creator in Germany from a student in India. The student hired an agent. The agent then applied on the behalf of the student. Later it turned out that the agent had forged language certificate. The university found out and they told the student that not only is he banned but if he EVER comes to Germany he will be HANDED OVER TO THE POLICE.

PLEASE MAKE YOU UNDERSTAND THE RISKS INVOLVED.

I wish you all the best.

I can tell you that it feels like nothing else.I recently travelled to Malaysia with my brother. When I reached immigration it took less than a minute with my EU passport, the officer didn't even ask me anything. He yawned, and scanned through my passport and stamped it right away with a 30 day visa on arrival. My brother on the other hand, with a weaker Pakistani passport, had to apply for a visa first, (which he got 3 days before his flight), but despite having a valid visa, valid funds,...

We need to clear a few misconceptions about Estonian E-Residency Program.Firstly, it DOES NOT grant you any right to physical residency. You have no possibility to visit Estonia or the EU or in any way bring yourself or your family. This is a huge misconception.Secondly, despite the marketing, it also DOES NOT grant you a right to open a company or a bank account straight away. In fact, one of the biggest issues that many people face is opening a bank account.Thirdly, one of the questions...
